Este febrero, el Pabellón de Colombia en Expo 2020, representante de una de las naciones con maravillas, honra su estatus único en el mundo. 

El Pabellón de Colombia se sumó a la celebración de ‘New Seven Wonders of Nature’ en la que los países que albergan las siete maravillas naturales se unen en la exposición universal, para honrar los impresionantes recursos naturales de sus naciones.

Luego de recibir más de 600 millones de votos alrededor del mundo, la Amazonía, conocida como el pulmón del mundo, fue elegida como una de las 7 nuevas Maravillas de la Naturaleza, junto a la bahía Ha Long de Vietnam, las Cataratas de Iguazú, de Argentina y Brasil; Komodo en Indonesia, río subterráneo PP de Filipinas, la Montaña de la Mesa en Sudáfrica y la isla Jeju de Corea del Sur.

Como parte de los eventos, el Pabellón de Colombia descubrirá un marcador simbólico para conectar y mostrar la distancia entre el Pabellón de Colombia y el Amazonas.

Este marcador muestra a Colombia con regiones multiculturales y de gran biodiversidad con atributos y un ecosistema natural único.

Amazonía tesoro natural del planeta 

La Amazonía, que representa el 42% del territorio colombiano, tiene una importancia invaluable para el planeta.

Debido a su gran extensión selvática compartida por nueve países, con una superficie de 6,7 millones de kilómetros cuadrados, la selva, uno de los pulmones del mundo contribuye a la estabilización del clima mundial.

La selva amazónica que por sí sola representa el 10% de la biomasa total del planeta, es atravesada por el río Amazonas y según algunos expertos, el más largo en longitud que genera el 20% de la descarga fluvial mundial al océano.

The Invest in Bogota, a promotion agency for Bogota, Colombia is meeting with investors, business leaders and representatives of government entities at Expo 2020 Dubai to discuss growth opportunities in the capital city of Colombia and Latin America as a whole. Colombia is currently participating in the Expo, considered one of the world’s most important business meetings.

Invest in Bogota is highlighting the city’s strengths in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation and what makes it one of Latin America’s main markets. The organization’s Executive Director, Isabella Muñoz, leads the forum in showcasing the many investment opportunities available in local enterprises.

Muñoz said that Bogota is poised to attract investments from strategic markets such as the African Middle East and South Asia (MEASA). It will particularly put the spotlight on the more than 25 multi-sector projects in Colombia’s mobility and infrastructure sectors, including the second line of the Bogota Metro, CANOAS, and Bronx Creative District, among others.

“Bogota has to take advantage of this international window to strengthen trade relations with markets that are of great relevance and in which we have not historically positioned ourselves,” noted Muñoz.

The organization is also holding meetings with government officials, entrepreneurs, and representatives of private equity funds and companies interested in investing and expanding in Colombia and the region.

The meetings form part of Bogota’s agenda to attract more international investments, promote major national infrastructure projects globally, generate new business partnerships, and boost the capital’s export and tourism sectors.

“We are positioning the city as a benchmark in sustainability, competitiveness and tourism. In addition, we are working to strengthen alliances and international cooperation with strategic actors to generate resource mobilization, agendas, and activities for the benefit of the city, its businesspeople and entrepreneurs,” said Carolina Durán, Bogota’s Secretary of Economic Development.

These meetings will serve as the continuation of Bogota’s agenda at Expo Dubai, which began with the visit of Durán in November 2021. During her visit, Colombia made important advances in forging new alliances. These included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the District Secretariat of Economic Development to become part of the Global Council of Innovative Entities.

Colombia has joined the ongoing Expo to highlight the country’s cultural heritage, innovations, and investment offerings, to name a few. As part of its efforts to attract more foreign investors, Colombia has initiated discussions for it to become a resident country in the Area 2071 incubator. This will provide 10 Colombian ventures with strategic access to funding and training opportunities.

En el primer trimestre de la Expo 2020, más de 800.000 personas visitaron el Pabellón de Colombia y conocieron la oferta de turismo sostenible del país, a través del recorrido expositivo de la estructura que presenta a los visitantes múltiples razones para conocerlo.

“El Pabellón de Colombia en Expo Dubái se ha consolidado como la más interesante, amplia y contundente presentación de destino que estamos haciendo en los últimos años a nivel internacional”, afirmó Gilberto Salcedo, vicepresidente de Turismo de Procolombia, durante su visita a Expo Dubái.

Con el propósito de impulsar este sector, el Pabellón de Colombia realizó un evento donde 56 de los más destacados empresarios del sector turismo de Emiratos Árabes y altos directivos de la aerolínea Turkish se reunieron para conocer la oferta turística de Colombia, y conocer a diez operadores turísticos de Colombia para explorar oportunidades de cooperación.

En el primer trimestre de la exposición universal el Pabellón de Colombia desarrolló una activa agenda comercial orientada en fortalecer el turismo, motivar la inversión extranjera y expandir los negocios del país

Luego de que pasaran 90 días de la presencia de Colombia en el evento de venta país más importante a nivel global, el país arroja destacados resultados comerciales que demuestran el éxito de una agenda articulada entre sector público y privado y enfocada en la gestión de oportunidades para los sectores económicos y las empresas vinculadas.

El Pabellón de Colombia llegó a Expo Dubái con el claro objetivo de convertirse en la plataforma comercial más importante del país en Oriente Medio y  en la punta de lanza de una de las principales estrategias para la reactivación de la economía nacional, que contempla la entrada y fortalecimiento de nuevos mercados.

Durante el primer trimestre de la Expo 2020, Colombia registró un incremento del 40% en exportaciones no minero energéticas hacia la región, negocios por 3,6 millones de dólares y expectativas de negocios por 54 millones de dólares en destinos como Arabia Saudita, Palestina, Emiratos Árabes, Rusia o Canadá, como resultado de la macro rueda realizada en Expo 2020 por Procolombia, y en la que participaron 126 empresas colombianas.

El pasado 5 de noviembre una comitiva encabezada por Iván Duque Márquez, presidente de la república llegó a Emiratos Árabes para estrechar relaciones diplomáticas e institucionales que permitieron cerrar acuerdos como el MoU firmado con Emirates Airlines, la compañía aérea más importante del mundo que habilitará una ruta aérea entre Emiratos Árabes y Colombia, un importante paso a la conectividad de las dos naciones, que impulsará el turismo nacional y los negocios.

Asimismo, los Ministerios de Cultura de las dos naciones firmaron un acuerdo de cooperación que permitirá dar un impulso a los artistas colombianos.

DUBAI, 14 January 2022 – Bringing the world together to drive collective progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a better and more equitable future for all by 2030 is the crucial focus of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Global Goals Week.

Running from 15-22 January, Global Goals Week, held in association with the United Nations, will serve as a platform for different players – from world leaders and policy-makers, to business leaders and citizens – to connect and work toward achieving the SDGs at a critical time of uncertainty in the midst of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. With less than nine years left to deliver the goals, this week of hybrid events will highlight how the world’s fundamental challenges are interconnected and can only be addressed through reinvigorated multilateralism.

Kicking off year two of the Decade of Action, Global Goals Week launching at Expo 2020 in Dubai presents a critical opportunity to demonstrate, at every level, our raised ambition and commitment to keeping alive and achieving the Global Goals, ensuring we leave no one behind and that we recover better from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Global Goals Week will feature a plethora of impactful events: from an opening speech by Amina J Mohammed and a showcase of youth around the globe sharing their SDGs commitments on the world’s largest 360-degree projection screen at Al Wasl Plaza on 15 January to Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week’s Opening Ceremony and the Zayed Sustainability Prize awards ceremony at Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo 2020 Dubai, on 17 January.

The ‘Global Goals for All’ flagship event, co-curated by Project Everyone, will welcome Her Excellency Mariam Hareb Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and the Environment; Jayathma Wickramanayake, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth; and virtually Bill Gates, Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The panel will address the facts and solutions needed to inspire action around the world’s most prominent issues, including gender inequality and the climate crisis, on 16 January.

SDG 5: ‘Achieve gender equality and empower for all women and girls’ will be the focus for the Women’s World Majlis – A Better Future for All: Leaving No One Behind on 17 January and will feature discussions with Her Excellency Epsy Alejandra Campbell Barr, Vice President of Costa Rica and Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and a global leader in sustainable development and gender equality, who will participate virtually.

Other World Majlis sessions include Everyday (S)heroes, in collaboration with Hungary; Extending the Revolution to Every Desk and Doorstep: Fourth Industrial Revolution for Everyone, in collaboration with Morocco; and Power to Change the World: Fuelling a Sustainable World in 2030, in collaboration with Australia.

On 18 January, the Global Goals Business Forum, co-curated by Dubai Chamber of Commerce (Official Business Integrator of Expo 2020 Dubai), Estonia and UN Global Compact, will examine how the global community can foster economic prosperity for all, while ensuring the SDGs are achieved by the 2030 deadline. Speakers will include His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber of Commerce; Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director, UN Global Compact; and Eva-Maria Liimets, Estonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

From 18-19 January, a trilateral summit, Coming Full Circle: Water, Food, Energy Summit, co-curated by Jordan, the Netherlands and the UAE, will bring together heads of government and policy-makers. Its aim is to increase the collective understanding of the interdependent relationships between water, food and energy security, and solutions that integrate the three, amid on-going collaborations between the three co-curating countries.

On 20 January, the Global Best Practice Assembly will spotlight all 50 Global Best Practice Programme projects selected by Expo 2020 Dubai from around the world that have provided impactful and sustainable interventions, with a view to expanding them elsewhere.

Global Goals Week is the seventh of 10 Theme Weeks under Expo 2020 Dubai’s Programme for People and Planet, offering an exchange of inspiring new perspectives to address the greatest challenges and opportunities of our time.

Colombia, the second most biodiverse country and a leading nature and adventure tourism destination, is preparing to highlight its charming regions at the upcoming ‘Travel and Connectivity Week’ at Expo 2020 Dubai taking place from January 09-15, 2022.

In line with Colombia’s efforts to strengthen its position on the global tourism map and reactivate its economy, the Colombia Pavilion will share the country’s immense business and investment prospects available in the tourism sector. Furthermore, it will showcase Colombia’s initiatives to foster collaborations with regional and international business entities to strengthen its tourism sector and position the country as an ideal travel destination. It will also highlight the significance of its six touristic regions and how these are vital to the nation’s response to the latest global tourism trends and demands.

The charming regions—Amazon-Orinoquía, Western Andes, Eastern Andes, Greater Colombian Caribbean, Massifs, and Pacific—make Colombia one of the world’s megadiverse nations. These multicultural, high biodiversity regions with unique attributes are highly accessible thanks to their state-of-the art infrastructure.

Colombia’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai features its cultural diversity, natural ecosystems, ancient culture and history, and urban tourism of its regions. Due to its diverse and rich natural environment, the country is an ideal holiday destination for travelers with a variety of interests, from those seeking sandy beaches to those wanting an adventurous excursion through the forests.

The exhibition at the Colombia Pavilion features the immense potential of the country’s touristic regions. It aims to attract travelers with its wide variety of destinations, as well as foster new collaborations to aid the growth of Colombia’s tourism sector.

The Greater Colombian Caribbean is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world, with its sandy beaches, traditional cuisines, historic cities, cultural and natural diversity. Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a world heritage site by UNESCO, Tayrona National Park, the sea of seven colors of San Andres and Providencia, located in the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, one of the most important marine ecosystems, Barranquilla, known for the world-famous Carnival of Barranquilla, and Palomino beach are some of the major attractions in this region.

The Pacific region in Colombia is a biodiversity hotspot with its vast stretches of beaches and lush forests. In this part of the country, travelers can spot humpback whales, snorkel in Nuqui, and learn traditional African culture in Tumaco, enjoy salsa in the city of Santiago de Cali and relish the cuisines of the Pacific.

The Andean region is the most populated in Colombia, and it comprises West Andes, Central Andes, and East Andes. This region is also known for its vast stretch of Andean Forest and diversity in birds and coffee production. Medellin, known as the City of Eternal Spring, La Miel River, Los Nevados National Natural Park and Cocora Valley, are a few of the important destinations in the Western Andes, which is known for its urban and coffee culture.

Colombian Massif, known for agroecosystem and xerophytic vegetation, also has many incredible places that offer remarkable experience such as Tatacoa Desert, Puracé National Natural Park, Cocha Lagoon and Las Lajas in Nariño. Black and White’s carnival, one of the largest celebrations in Colombia, is held each year in Pasto, in this region.

The last of the six regions that will also be showcased at the Expo 2020 is Amazonia-Orinoquia. Tuparro National Natural Park, Eastern Plains, Sierra de la Macarena, Mavecure, table mountains of Serranía del Chiribiquete, waterfalls in Jirijirimo, and Amacayacu National Natural Park are some of the attractions that make it a major travel destination.

Colombia Tourism Fest at Expo 2020

Cartagena como ícono del turismo, industrial y cultural de Colombia, se toma el pabellón del país en ExpoDubai para mostrarse como un destino de talla mundial, dando a conocer sus ventajas competitivas y de atracción de macroproyectos que incentiven la competitividad y la recuperación económica y social del territorio. El objetivo es mostrar tres de sus grandes ventajas: un destino de inversión y relocalización; destino turístico de negocios y de descanso; y mostrar su oferta exportable.

Cartagena ha sido reconocida a nivel global por su historia y cultura, por lo que en 1984 fue declarada por la UNESCO como Patrimonio Histórico y Cultural de la Humanidad. Sus bellos archipiélagos y su arquitectura con sus imponentes murallas, ha transformado a Cartagena como un destino turístico llamativo, escogido por miles de turistas año tras año. En sí misma, Cartagena es un museo vivo en el que se reúnen también los mejores eventos y festivales internacionales.

De igual manera, tiene una posición estratégica que conecta las economías globales por su cercanía con Panamá, la protección natural contra los huracanes. Cuenta con el puerto más importante de Colombia y el quinto en América Latina. Tiene la refinería más modera de toda América del Sur; diversidad de Zonas Francas y sectores de gran potencial como el petroquímico-plástico, metalúrgico, energías renovables e Industrias creativas.

“ExpoDubai es la feria comercial más importante de todo el mundo donde confluyen grandes inversionistas y productores, por eso es la oportunidad perfecta para visibilizar a Cartagena como destino de talla mundial y que los ojos del mundo estén puestos sobre la ciudad, para seguir construyendo un territorio competitivo e inclusivo. Una ciudad para todos”, añadió Diana Villalba, secretaria de Hacienda del Distrito de Cartagena.

ExpoDubai reúne múltiples oportunidades para afianzar alianzas comerciales con fondos de inversión y empresarios que estén interesados en destinar sus recursos a nuevos negocios en la ciudad. La estrategia de Cartagena se enfoca a visibilizarse ante mercados de España, Alemania, Italia y de países asiáticos, especialmente para promocionar los macroproyectos destinados a promover el crecimiento sostenible como la conservación de ecosistemas basado en los cuerpos de aguas, energías renovables como una solución para la generación de energías limpias; o la construcción de un Expocenter, un nuevo centro de exhibiciones para ferias, congresos y grandes exhibiciones.

Con el lema “Conectando Mentes, Creando el Futuro” y basado en conceptos como sostenibilidad, movilidad y oportunidad, en ExpoDubai participan 191 pabellones que muestran lo mejor del arte, la música, la arquitectura, los deportes,  el bienestar, la ciencia y la cultura de los países participantes. La participación de Cartagena inició el 1 de diciembre y va hasta el 31 de marzo del 2022.

Con el objetivo de atraer nuevas oportunidades de negocios e inversión extranjera y contribuir con la reactivación económica de nuestro país, el Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje SENA participa en la Exposición Universal con iniciativas que representan parte de su capacidad institucional, y la presentación de su oferta de servicios en educación, empleo y emprendimiento a las empresas interesadas en abrir operaciones en Colombia.

Bajo el concepto de Diversity of Talents (diversidad de talentos), la experiencia del SENA en Expo Dubái tiene el objetivo de buscar nuevos lazos de cooperación internacional para fortalecer la capacitación pertinente y de calidad, la empleabilidad, la movilidad internacional de aprendices e instructores y aportar a la equidad, la inclusión y la productividad en Colombia. El periplo incluirá visitas a instituciones y organismos de interés, el intercambio cultural y acciones que permitirán a los educandos complementar sus procesos de formación.

“En este magno certamen le estamos mostrando al mundo la capacidad creativa de los talentos que formamos e impulsamos, los cuales están altamente cualificados en conocimientos técnicos, habilidades digitales, así como en las competencias socioemocionales y ciudadanas que demandan los diferentes sectores económicos para enfrentar con éxito los cambios disruptivos generados por la Cuarta Revolución Industrial”, aseguró el Director General, Carlos Mario Estrada Molina.

Con el SENA viajaron aprendices de proyectos del Sistema de Investigación, Desarrollo Tecnológico e Innovación – SENNOVA de Bogotá y regiones como Vaupés, Caldas, Huila y Quindío, que soportan estrategias encaminadas a promover la seguridad alimentaria, la economía circular, la competitividad del agro y la industria, mediante la liofilización de alimentos, tecnología 4.0 aplicada a la producción agrícola, biotecnología para el café y el reconocimiento y cuidado de la fauna para la apropiación ambiental.

De igual forma, hacen parte de la comitiva de la Entidad emprendimientos de tecnología para la industria petrolera y el desarrollo de herramientas para ingeniería, minería, construcción y agricultura; café sostenible; moda basada en raíces ancestrales y Economía Naranja procedentes de la capital colombiana y los departamentos de Antioquia, Caldas, Nariño y San Andrés respectivamente.

Además, viajaron 2 aprendices en representación de la estrategia Cine al SENA, que busca fortalecer la formación de talento humano en áreas del sector audiovisual con estándares internacionales, y 6 más de las áreas de logística de eventos y de barismo junto con dos instructores, para poner en práctica sus habilidades por medio de diferentes activaciones para los asistentes del pabellón.

Gracias a su participación en la última exposición universal realizada en Milán en el 2015, la institución efectuó alianzas con entidades italianas como la Organización Internacional Ítalo-latinoamericana, forjando lazos de cooperación que hoy en día continúan beneficiando a cientos de colombianos que depositan su confianza en los servicios de la Entidad.

Con la participación en Expo 2020 Dubái, el SENA inicia su camino de exploración para la búsqueda de nuevos aliados en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, con el fin de generar proyectos de cooperación que permitan fortalecer sus servicios y democratizar el acceso a conocimientos de primer nivel para todos los colombianos.

Scale2Dubai es un programa internacional de emprendimiento que ofrece a Startups y pequeñas y medianas empresas, con trayectoria en sus países, la oportunidad de expandir su negocio a Dubái y conquistar nuevos mercados.

Las empresas que se establezcan en District 2020 tendrán beneficios que los ayudarán en sus objetivos de abrirse en el mercado de medio oriente. Los beneficios incluyen:

– Un espacio gratuito en el Distrito 2020 durante 2 años, así como de como de tarifas residenciales especiales justo al lado del District 2020.

– Hacer parte de un espacio único que reúne a la industria y la tecnología
– Ambiente con personas e ideas afines, y acceso a facilitadores clave en el mundo académico, las aceleradoras, las incubadoras, la financiación y los espacios de co-working.

District 2020 busca empresas innovadoras que tengan impacto en sectores en crecimiento como la logística y la movilidad inteligente, la sanidad digital y las ciudades inteligentes, así como tecnologías futuras que apoyen a estos sectores como la inteligencia artificial, el internet de las cosas, el big data y el blockchain.

Las solicitudes de las empresas deberán ajustarse a las industrias de enfoque del Distrito 2020 o a cualquier tecnología que apoye a estas industrias, las solicitudes serán estudiadas para asegurarse que cumplan con todos los requisitos.
