What is the Expo?

Connecting Minds, Creating the Future

The purpose of World Expos is to create a lasting impact on the progress of humanity. With the slogan, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” Expo Dubai is a platform to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration on a global scale, as well as to promote ideas that bring about a positive impact in three areas: opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

The Expo will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, which, in addition to coinciding with the celebration of the 50th  anniversary of the founding of the UAE, will become a historic milestone, since the world will come together again and give a pivotal impetus to global economic revival.

Expo 2020 Dubai is a World Expo registered by the BIE, which will be attended by more than 190 countries. This will be the first World Expo held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region.

Scale2Dubai

After the event is over, the three thematic districts of the Expo Dubai will become collaborative workspaces and offices for companies and organizations dedicated to promoting social and cultural advancement.

The legacy of Expo Dubai will be a great opportunity for entrepreneurs in the Colombian innovation and technology sectors. More than 2,000 workspaces for a large number of global companies will be available at Scale2Dubai, an innovation ecosystem in the Middle East equivalent to Silicon Valley.

Soon, SENA, Innpulsa, MinTIC, ProColombia, and others will be joining forces to extend an invitation to Colombian companies that want to participate in this great legacy. Some of the benefits include free access to workspaces, business licensing visas, subsidized residency, as well as support for business promotion.

Best Practices Program

The Dubai World Expo has a “Global Best Practices” platform, whose purpose is to highlight projects providing tangible solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, set out in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As part of the program, Colombia participated in the special call for proposals aimed at initiatives, programs, and projects with solid and sustainable solutions to address the global Covid-19 pandemic and the recovery process.

The organization received 318 proposals from 78 different countries, including 13 proposals from Colombia.

History of the Expos

History of the Expos

Since their start in London in 1851, the World Expos have been spaces for cultural, scientific, economic, and commercial exchange held every five years. For six months, countries from five continents showcase their potential, their progress, and their contributions to the planet. The Eiffel Tower in France, the Chicago Wheel in the United States, and the Atomium in Belgium are the footprint of some of the most recognized World Expos.
